Shaun White Stoked To Add Action Sports Company To His Portfolio

Shaun White earns about $7 million a year from endorsements, relatively low among professional athletes but a nice piece of change for someone whose main source of consumer awareness comes from skateboarding and snowboarding.

White this week added to his personal cottage industry with the official launch of action sports hard goods line Shaun White Supply Co. The strategy moves White from participant and spokesperson to entrepreneur as the business will supply to consumers and other companies such items as skateboards, helmets, pads, balance boards, 3-in-1 grind rails and ramps. In March, the company will begin to offer BMX Bikes. Read More

Shaun White Supply Co. launches Thurs

SAN DIEGO -- Want to own a skateboard like the one Shaun White used to win his latest X Games gold medal?

The action sports superstar is expanding his empire by launching the Shaun White Supply Co., which will sell skateboards, BMX bikes, helmets and pads, ramps and grind rails in sporting goods stores across the country and online.

The 25-year-old White said his product line is a logical step in a two-sport career in which he's dominated some of the sickest halfpipes in the world, from Los Angeles to Turin to Vancouver.

"The nice thing is, since I've gotten older, I have the mindset to take on things like this. When I won at Torino, I was 19. I mean, if the awards were at a bar, they wouldn't have let me in," White said, referring to winning the first of his two Olympic gold medals in snowboarding. "You can finally do all the projects that you've wanted to do, not that you have to do." Read More

White promises that his products will be better than what he used while growing up in Carlsbad in northern San Diego County.

White will have a definite presence this year at Lake Tahoe ski resorts - Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe. He will represent all six of Vail Resorts, which also includes Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado. Vail Resorts, Inc. recently announced a worldwide multi-year partnership agreement with White, a professional snowboarder and skateboarder. Read More

5 questions with Shaun White

One of the most well-known athletes from any sport, this 25-year-old transcends both of the sports that have made him famous. He's won two Olympic Gold medals in snowboard halfpipe and eight X Games gold medals. He is the first athlete to win both a Winter and Summer X Games gold. The native of Southern California is most well-known for innovative tricks, huge air, extreme mental toughness and, of course, his long, wavy red locks. The Deseret News' Amy Donaldson caught up with him this week when he came to Salt Lake City for the second stop of the Dew Tour.
Question: Are there similarities between snowboarding and skateboarding that give you an edge? Read more

Shaun White flies back into Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - Shaun White loves competing in Utah, whether it's on a skateboard or a snowboard.

"My favorite part about coming to Salt Lake is you get the mix of fans from skating and the winter side of things," said White, now 25 years old. "So, I feel like it's the best crowd."

White is back in Salt Lake City ready to defend his Dew Tour skate vert title he won last year at EnergySolutions Arena. So does he feel the pressure to repeat?

"I don't think there's any amount of pressure that could come from fans that can match the amount of pressure I put on myself," said White, who won a gold medal at this year's X-Games. "I expect myself to land every trick." Read More
